In Memoriam — David Heitke (1943 – 2012). Dave had recently re-joined Rovers after a long hiatus (he first joined in 1980). Dave suffered a heart attack while descending one of ~50 of Colorado's 14er's he'd summited. Dave had a lifelong love of the outdoors and died doing what he loved most. Articles: | 1 | 2 |

Memorial for James (Jim) Baker-Jarvis (1950 – 2011). A memorial will be held for Jim on May 26, at Silver Lake just outside Siren, WI. People can camp at some of the cabins and also Bob (Jim's brother) lives pretty close in Amery. Contact Anne for additional information.

In Memoriam — James (Jim) Baker-Jarvis (1950 – 2011). Jim, who was an avid boater and a member in the 60s & 70s, was recently killed in a freak accident. “He loved to be outside … biking, hiking ... he just loved anything outdoors,” his wife, Karen Baker-Jarvis said. Articles: | 1 | 2 |

Changes for the XC ski season at Three Rivers Park District. This season the park district will require a new cross-country ski pass for skiing at any of the parks within their system (in addition to the Minnesota Ski Pass). Also, Crow-Hassan Park will now be closed for cross-country skiing in order to focus their resources elsewhere. more

Bicycling Programs
There will be a three-part series of short demonstrations on bicycle maintenance after the Tuesday meeting. The next in the series is July 16: “How to Adjust Your Derailuer.”

Chain Saw Training
The USFS has implemented the policy that we will have to have chain saw training to work in the national forest outside the BWCAW. They are offering training on June 15th and 16th at Aurora and June 22nd and 23rd at Grand Marais. The training is one day of classroom training and one day of practical demonstration to show that we will be safe in the woods. I know this is short notice, I just got the letter Tuesday night. I am going to e-mail them about that and see if they can offer something later. Please let me know if you can make either of these weekends.

Townhall Discussion and Vote
We will be having a discussion and vote on whether or not the Rovers should remain a student organization and continue to meet on campus or possibly move to another location.

This discussion will take place at the meeting on TUESDAY, MAY 7. Please note that this meeting will take place at Pillsbury Hall and we will vote on the matter at our FIRST OUTDOOR MEETING at Como Park the following TUESDAY, MAY 14.
