MINNESOTA ROVERS CLUB EQUIPMENT CAGE

Need gear? You can get started with suitable outdoor clothing and footwear, along with an appetite for adventure. Rovers’ extensive equipment inventory includes sleeping bags, tents, canoes, stoves, backpacks, bicycle panniers, climbing ropes, and hundreds of other items. Most may be used free by club members for club outings.

Items can be checked out of the “cage” Tuesday evenings after the meeting, and must be returned the Tuesday after the trip unless otherwise arranged with the Cage Coordinator. Please read the Cage Equipment Check Out Policy prior to requesting equipment.

The cage coordinator currently is Tom Suter 651-484-8606 or you can contact Frank Taft at 763-784-5901 if Tom S. is unavailable. For paddling equipment, please contact Rob Chase at 651-230-2277 (m) or 651-340-7599 (h).

YAHOO E-GROUP

The e-group is a group e-mail address that is used to communicate to all club members who are subscribed. There are a variety of uses for this forum such as:

  • To invite others to join you on a last minute ski, hike, bike ride, etc. that was not announced at the previous meeting or posted on the website.
  • To get a feel for what kind of interest there might be for a trip you are considering coordinating.
  • To alert members of an important event, issue (non political), or change in plans or procedures.
  • To post a trip report of a trip you recently coordinated or attended.
  • To post a message to generate interest in certain activities or locations.

If you are a current member of Minnesota Rovers and you are not already subscribed to the e-group, visit the website http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mnrovers/join or send an e-mail to: mnrovers-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. The e-group moderator will approve your subscription when your club membership is verified.

DISCOUNTS (Bring your Rover membership card)

Members are eligible for a variety of discounts from local sporting goods stores, outfitters, and recreation facilities.

  • Air Down There SCUBA, Inc. — A full-service PADI Dive Center specializing in classes, equipment, and travel. Click here for current discounts.
  • Freewheel Bike — 5% discount (off regular price) on bikes 10% (off regular price) everything else; in stock items ONLY; Labor at repair shop is NOT included.
  • Harris Warehouse Canvas and Camping — Present a current MN Rovers membership card and receive a 10% discount on all regularly priced items. Discount not valid on repairs, fabrics, surplus, and some special orders.
  • Midwest Mountaineering (Club Day) — Twice a year, Rovers receive 15% off all regular-priced merchandise except for 7% on canoes & kayaks (no special orders). You must present current Rovers ID card to get discount. The next Club Day is Thursday, October 2, 2008.
  • Knupac Portaging Systems — 15% discount on any Knu-Pac product to Rovers members. The most comfortable way to carry your canoe or kayak and your gear!
  • Pioneer Midwest — 10% to 20% off regular priced items and services.
  • PJ Asch Otterfitters in Stillwater, MN — 10% discount with some exceptions. 651-430-2286. Kayak demos, classes, rental ($35/day); climbing gym, plus more!
  • Rollerdome — Receive $1 off adult admission with your MN Rovers membership card on Monday and Wednesday nights throughout the winter.
  • Trailhead Cycling and Fitness — Present a current MN Rovers membership card and receive 20% off parts and accessories.
  • Vertical Endeavors Climbing Gym — St. Paul location: 1/2 price admission fee on Wednesdays anytime and Sundays BEFORE NOON. Duluth location: 1/2 price admission fee ANYTIME Wednesdays and Sundays. Discount does not apply to equipment rental, purchases, etc. You must present your current, valid MN Rovers membership card.
