The Minnesota Rovers Board is considering supporting The Friends of the Boundary Waters in their Protect Minnesotas Wilderness Campaign. We will hold a vote of the general membership during our regular Tuesday meeting on August 17. Protect Minnesotas Wilderness is a campaign to protect nearly 90,000 acres of roadless areas in the Superior National Forest. These areas are what remain of our wild forest heritage. The areas also offer some excellent recreational opportunities, including hiking. This previously protected area has been opened up by the Federal Government for the State of Minnesota to decide what to do with it. There have been many question raised as to what this would mean for Rovers and questions about the Friends of the Boundary Waters Organization. E-mail any additional questions to Tom J. before August 3 and he will get them all answered before the vote takes place.
