Paddling the Lake Superior North Shore Coastline. Part four of the Rovers Sea Kayaking Beginners Series, which has been set up to allow paddlers to develop their paddling skills while progressing through five paddling experiences.

Date: To be finalized with UMD-RSOP. Depart 7 a.m. and get home late (10 p.m. or midnight). Guide: University of Minnesota — Duluth Recreation Sports Outdoor Program (UMD-RSOP) will be hired to provide a guide. Participants will sign a risk waiver provided by UMD-RSOP.

Itinerary: Paddle along Lake Superior’s north shore. This will include additional paddling clothing for paddling on the cold waters of Lake Superior and the ability and willingness to accept the risk of paddling in this exciting, but potentially dangerous lake environment. Location: Lake Superior’s north shore, possibly Split Rock area, but location will be subject to the wind, waves, weather and guides discretion. Estimated cost: UMD-RSOP will provide guide, boat and boat equipment for $70 per participant. Gas money, bag lunch, water, possibly dinner in Duluth for $35 to $75 dependent on car pooling, etc. Equipment: UMD-RSOP will provide guide, boat and boat equipment or you may provide your own (as long as it is suitable, call and describe your boat if it is less than 16 feet long). See Day-Long Sea Kayaking Instruction previously posted for boat and equipment requirement. A clothing list will be developed. Trip size: 5–8. We may be able to get an additional guide. Date: To be finalized with UMD-RSOP. Depart 6:00 a.m. and get home late (10:00 p.m. or midnight) the next day. Guide: University of Minnesota – Duluth Recreation Sports Outdoor Program (UMD-RSOP) will be hired to provide a guide. Participants will sign a risk waiver provided by UMD-RSOP.

Itinerary: Paddle out to an island, camp over night and return the next day. Travel to be further developed. Location: Apostle Islands, Wisconsin. Possibly Sand, York or Basswood Island. Location will be subject to the wind, waves, weather and guides discretion.

Estimated cost: UMD-RSOP will provide guide, boat and boat equipment for $70 per participant per day. Plus camping fee, gas money, 2 lunches, water, camping breakfast and dinner, dinner on the way home in Duluth for $60–$100 dependent on car pooling, etc. Total cost $200+?
